To strengthen its rare endocrine disease portfolio, Vertex has agreed to acquire Crinetics Pharmaceuticals in a deal valued at approximately US$10 B. Through this strategic acquisition, Vertex will gain access to Crinetics’ lead approved therapy, Palsonify (paltusotine), which is approved for the treatment of acromegaly, as well as the company’s broader pipeline, including atumelnant, a late-stage candidate being developed for congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). The deal marks Vertex’s largest deal to date and establishes endocrinology as a fifth strategic pillar beyond cystic fibrosis (CF), haematology, pain management, and renal disease.
