In its first foray into the acute care market, Hologic has agreed to acquire Mobidiag, a molecular diagnostic solution provider for gastrointestinal and respiratory infections, antimicrobial resistance management, and healthcare associated infections. The acquisition, which values Mobidiag at US$795 M, gives Hologic access to Mobidiag’s two platform technologies, Amplidiag® and Novodiag®, which utilises PCR technologies. The Mobidiag deal also aligns with Hologic’s strategy to expand its presence in Europe, building on its recent acquisitions of Somatex Medical Technologies and Diagenode.
