Abstract
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which insufficient insulin is produced to regulate blood glucose, and is due to loss of the insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells. This therapy focus looks at the different possible treatments that are under development for the disease #8211; prophylactic vaccines, antibodies for prevention and treatment, and approaches to the regeneration or replacement of pancreatic beta cells #8211; and the various deals that have been made concerning them.
