Dainippon Sumitomo became the next major Japanese to buy a US company by acquiring Sepracor in a cash deal worth US$2.6 B. Dainippon is aiming to capitalise on Sepracor’s existing capabilities to expand into the North American markets with its forthcoming antipsychotic drug, lurasidone.
