Abstract
Academic and research institutions progress their drug candidates to market by parternering with industry. The institutions extract maximum values from their innovations by negotiating a good royalty stream. The article describes that commercialization of academic research would reap them more finance through royalty ownership and would encourage more institutions to focus on developing innovative new products that have the potential of exerting a substantial impact on the market.
