Variza™ (gepirone, originally BMY 13805) is an oral pyridinyl piperazine (azapirone) serotonin (5-HT1A) receptor partial agonist, which was developed by Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS). It is a dimethyl congener of another BMS product, buspirone (BuSpar®), which was approved for the alleviation of short-term anxiety in 1986.
