Sanofi and Verily form joint venture to Personalise Diabetes Care

Abstract
Expanding its diabetes offerings, Sanofi has entered into an agreement with Verily Life Sciences, the healthcare unit of Alphabet - Google’s parent company - to form a joint venture called Onduo to develop devices, software and drugs to assist in patient management of diabetes. Sanofi and Verily have invested approximately US$500 M in the joint venture in which Sanofi contributed US$248 M in return for a 50% stake in Onduo with Verily contributing an equivalent amount of capital. The initial focus will be on type 2 diabetes but over time the collaboration will expand to also serve type 1 diabetic patients.
