AbbVie Deepens Immunology Leadership with US$10.9 B Acquisition of Apogee Therapeutics
Nikita Negi
Abstract
In a strategic move to bolster its immunology leadership, AbbVie has agreed to acquire Apogee Therapeutics in an all-cash deal valued at approximately US$10.9 B. The acquisition adds a portfolio of clinical-stage immunology assets, including zumilokibart (APG777), a late-stage, half-life-extended anti-IL-13 monoclonal antibody for atopic dermatitis. It also brings APG273, a potentially best-in-class long-acting dual-target therapy against IL-13 and TSLP for asthma. The transaction further reinforces AbbVie’s strategy to build a sustainable growth engine beyond Humira® (adalimumab).
