Tarsus Pharmaceuticals Expands Eye Care Portfolio with Acquisition of Alkeus Pharmaceuticals
Nikita Negi
Abstract
In a strategic move to strengthen its position in ophthalmology and expand its presence in retinal diseases, Tarsus Pharmaceuticals has agreed to acquire Alkeus Pharmaceuticals in a deal valued at up to US$800 M. The acquisition provides Tarsus with gildeuretinol (ALK-001), a Phase III investigational oral therapy for Stargardt disease, a rare inherited retinal disorder with no FDA-approved treatments currently available. The transaction further supports Tarsus’ strategy of expanding its eye care portfolio while broadening its pipeline beyond its commercial dry-eye and eyelid disease franchise.
