After a busy year implementing its M&A strategy, Boston Scientific has agreed to acquire medical device company Vertiflex for US$465 M in upfront cash and additional payments contingent on the achievement of commercial milestones over the next three years. With the deal, Boston Scientific gains the FDA-approved Superion® Indirect Decompression System for the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis, which will join Boston Scientific’s rapidly growing neuromodulation business which garnered US$779 M of sales in 2018.
