Stryker Augments Orthopaedics Business with US$5.4 B Wright Medical Acquisition

Abstract
Continuing its M&A spree, Stryker has agreed to acquire medical device company Wright Medical for US$5.4 B. With the deal, Stryker gains a portfolio of orthopaedic products which include extremities, biologics and sports medicine products that are complementary to its trauma and extremities business which forms the bulk of the company’s orthopaedics segment. The transaction, which is expected to close in the second half of 2020, follows a string of business acquisitions by Stryker in 2019 so far including of Arrinex, OrthoSpace, TSO3, Mobius Imaging and Cardan Robotics.
