Merck & Co. has formed a joint venture with India’s Sun Pharmaceutical Industries for the development, manufacturing and commercialisation of branded generic drugs in emerging markets, thus emphasising the increasing importance of these fast-growing markets to big pharma. The joint venture will leverage the drug delivery technologies of Sun Pharma Advanced Research for the development of differentiated products that enhance patient convenience and compliance.
