Par Pharmaceutical has agreed to buy privately held Anchen Pharmaceuticals for US$410 M in order to expand its generic drugs portfolio. The deal, which is expected to complete by the end of 2011, will be immediately accretive to the company’s 2011 earnings. With the acquisition, Par will gain Anchen’s portfolio of five marketed products and 27 ANDAs that are awaiting US FDA approval as well as manufacturing and R&D capabilities.
