Abstract
Cannabinoid compounds targeting CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid rceptors have been extracted from plants for treating various diseases including rheumatic pains, migraine, constipation and multiple sclerosis. There had been public discussions regarding whether use of medicinal cannabis should be legalized. There are many legal and political constraints regarding the development of cannabis-based compounds for medicinal purposes. The article suggests that it is vital to separate such discussions from research on cannabis-based compounds, so that more companies could involve in the research.
