Abstract


The antiglycaemic drug pramlintide is a synthetic analogue of human amylin – a naturally occurring hormone which, like insulin, is made in the pancreatic islet β cells, and acts with insulin and glucagon to maintain normal glucose concentrations in the blood. Amylin Pharmaceuticals has formed only one alliance for the development of pramlintide.
