Effective Benchmarking
Business Review Editor
Abstract
The benchmarking approach is restricted by the sparse financial information available in the public domain particularly royalties rates. Several factors need to be considered while selecting deals for benchmarking, therefore deal benchmarking alone is unlikely to arrive at a precise set of appropriate terms of the transaction. On the other hand, benchmarking may indicate suitable ranges for the different elements and when taken rigorously, remains a useful tool in developing a framework for an envisaged transaction.
