Big Pharma Product Divestments– Buying the Cast-Offs

Abstract


Acquisition of products from Pharmacia by ICN and products of Eli Lilly by STADA created a suggestion that divestments of this nature are part of an increasing trend. This article focuses on reasons of pharmaceutical companies seeking to divest marketed products and acquiring companies buying these brands due to distress sale and revenues generated by low growth products, also features variations in the deal value of product divestments.
