Testing for Genetic Variation

Abstract


Access to genetic information and knowledge of genetic variations is becoming more easily available. The detection of these variations relating to drug metabolism have the possibility to change the way drugs are prescribed leading to personalized medicines. To overcome the obstacles of the genetic analysis required achieving the goals of personalized medicines, faster and cheaper testing assays need to be developed. This article considers certain companies involved in developing rapid and simple assays for detecting genetic variation.
