CAMR is UK’s Centre for Applied Microbiology and Research. CAMR focuses activities relating to pathogenic microorganisms and biodefence-related activities. CAMR’s core activities are centered on the research, development and production of highly purified biopharmaceuticals, vaccines and other biologically active compounds. This article discusses the specialist facilities that CAMR offers to its pharmaceutical/biotechnology partners for handling microbial pathogens to enable the development of diagnostic, prophylactic and therapeutic products from live agents.
