Development of new chemical entity (NCE) in externally developed drug delivery systems are carried out to overcome pharmacological and toxicological hurdles. This article considers the responsibilities of pharmaceutical and drug delivery industries to overcome these hurdles and the timing of bringing a drug delivery technology into a novel drug development program.
